Cybersecurity competencies in Finland: Present state and roadmap for the future is a research project which examines the current state of competencies in the area of cybersecurity in Finland. The aim of the project is to develop a broad and comprehensive analysis of research, development and innovation competencies in Finland in the area of cybersecurity. In addition, the project explores the current state of central research related national ICT infrastructure.

The study also includes a forward-looking part which will develop a roadmap to support the development of the Finnish information society and will provide guidelines for the further development of the national research related critical ICT infrastructure.

The project will collect a broad and comprehensive data which will include interviews, surveys, focus groups, patent and publication data and statistics. This is the first time such an overall analysis of cybersecurity competencies is carried out in Finland.

The study is carried out by VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland in collaboration with Cyberlab Ltd. The multidisciplinary project team includes high-level expertise from the following areas: innovation research and R&D impact assessment, foresight, cybersecurity and business development.

The project started in December 2014 and will run until January 2016. It is funded by the Finnish Ministry of Interior.
